Shire Christian School set to welcome new principal in January

Shire Christian School has appointed Timothy Hewitt as Principal from January 2027, succeeding David Stonestreet, who will retire at the end of 2026 after a 35-year career at the Sydney school.

Mr Hewitt is currently Principal of Broughton Anglican College, a Christ-centred Prep to Year 12 school of approximately 1,500 students. He previously served as Deputy of Secondary at Covenant Christian School.

He has more than 20 years of experience in Christian education, spanning teaching and executive leadership roles across Christian Education National (CEN), independent and Anglican schools.

The school’s Board was unanimous in its decision following a recruitment process that highlighted the calibre of Christian education leaders across the sector.

Board Chair John Ishak said he was thankful Mr Hewitt could commence at the beginning of the 2027 school year and looked forward to welcoming him to the school community.

Mr Hewitt said he was excited by the opportunity to build on Shire Christian School’s 50-year legacy of Christian education.

He brings a vision to build on the school’s foundations of biblical clarity, conviction and academic excellence, while furthering its mission to educate students for a life of learning, service and purpose.

Mr Ishak said the appointment marked a new chapter for the school, with its existing purpose continuing to guide its direction.
