Prominent Independent schools appoint new deputy leaders for 2027

Two Independent schools have announced senior leadership appointments for 2027, with experienced educators taking on new Deputy roles at Shore and St Margaret’s Anglican Girls School.

Sydney Church of England Grammar School (Shore) has appointed Stuart McCormack as Deputy Headmaster, while St Margaret’s Anglican Girls School in Brisbane has appointed Lindsay McQuattie as Deputy Principal.

At Shore, Mr McCormack will move into the newly created whole-school executive position after three years as Head of Students in the Senior School.

He joined Shore in 2024 after eight years at Thomas Hassall Anglican College, where he held senior roles including Deputy Head of Senior School (Student Wellbeing) and Acting Deputy Principal. His previous leadership experience also includes roles at Richard Johnson Anglican College and Norwest Christian College.

Mr McCormack holds a Master of Education (Leadership) from UNSW, as well as a Bachelor of Arts and Diploma in Education from Macquarie University.

As Deputy Headmaster, he will serve as Headmaster Dr Peter Miller’s delegated second-in-charge and support leadership, strategy and daily operations across Shore’s Early Learning Centre through to Year 12.

At St Margaret’s, Ms McQuattie will commence as Deputy Principal in January 2027, joining from John Paul College, where she has served as Deputy Principal and a member of the Executive Leadership Team.

Her career has included teaching and leadership roles in Australia and overseas, including five years at the Australian International School in Singapore. At John Paul College, she has held positions including Primary Curriculum Leader, Dean of Pedagogy, Head of Primary School and Deputy Principal.

Ms McQuattie holds a Master of Leadership from Monash University and a Bachelor of Education from QUT.

In her new role, she will contribute to the implementation of St Margaret’s Strategic Plan 2026–2030 and the school’s focus on preparing students to be confident, compassionate and capable women.
