A sold-out Brisbane event is driving expansion of the National Education Summit, with new 2027 events planned as Melbourne prepares to welcome educators next month.
The National Education Summit is expanding its national program for 2027 following strong demand from educators, including a sold-out Brisbane event in 2026.
The response has prompted the Summit to expand its reach, with new events planned for 2027 as organisers look to provide more educators with access to professional learning, networking and resources.
The next opportunity for educators is the National Education Summit Melbourne, being held on 3–4 September 2026 at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre.
The Summit has provided professional development for Australian educators since 2016, with programs addressing current issues across teaching, learning and school leadership.
Four-city program for 2027
The 2027 program will include four events, with Adelaide and Perth joining the Summit calendar for the first time. The schedule is:
- Brisbane: 27–28 May 2027, Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre
- Melbourne: 19–20 August 2027, Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre
- Adelaide: 2–3 September 2027, Adelaide Convention Centre
- Perth: 28–29 October 2027, Perth Convention & Exhibition Centre
The organisers describe Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth as conference-led, content-first professional learning events, with curated supplier engagement. Melbourne will continue as the flagship expo-led event, combining a large-scale education marketplace with free seminars and co-located conferences.
The Perth event will be particularly significant, marking the first time the National Education Summit has been held in Western Australia. Organisers say the new event responds to demand from WA educators for access to professional learning, speakers and education solutions. Adelaide will also host the Summit for the first time in 2027.
The expansion follows the Summit’s Brisbane event in 2026, which organisers say generated a strong response to its conference-focused format. The 2027 Brisbane program will build on that model while expanding its reach.
Melbourne event focuses on practical learning
Before the 2027 expansion, educators have the opportunity to attend the Melbourne Summit this September.
The two-day event will feature a combination of conferences, professional learning sessions, a free education expo and seminars. Current program pillars include AI in the Classroom, Diverse Learners Symposium, Wellbeing for Future Focused Schools and Capacity Building School Libraries.
The AI in the Classroom program will explore the practical and ethical implications of AI in education, including building staff capability, developing appropriate policies and using AI to support teaching and learning. The Diverse Learners Symposium focuses on inclusive approaches to neurodiversity, wellbeing, engagement and differentiated learning.
The wellbeing program will examine strategies for supporting student and staff wellbeing and building positive school cultures, while the school libraries conference will focus on the role of libraries in supporting teaching, learning and school communities.
The free expo and seminar program will also give educators access to suppliers, classroom resources, technology and practical professional learning. The 2026 Melbourne program includes the Knowledge Centre and Classroom of the Future stages, as well as a new Early Stages Theatre.
The Summit’s organisers emphasise practical application, with attendee feedback highlighting the value of sessions that provide strategies and tools educators can take directly back to their schools.
