Victoria has a new Minister for Education following Premier Ben Carroll’s first Cabinet reshuffle.
Deputy Premier Gabrielle Williams has been appointed Minister for Education, Skills and Training, First Peoples, and Women and Gender Equality as part of the new ministry announced today.
Announcing the reshuffle, Mr Carroll said the streamlined Cabinet was “ready to deliver a new direction for Victorians” and would focus on delivering value for taxpayers while maintaining a strong emphasis on key priorities.
“My Cabinet will stay focused on what matters most – cost of living, keeping Victorians safe and delivering great healthcare and education,” he said.
The appointment places Williams in charge of Victoria’s education portfolio, with responsibility for the state’s school system, education workforce, and skills and training.
The reshuffle also establishes a new Minister for Artificial Intelligence and Digital Economy portfolio, with Anthony Carbines appointed to lead the role. The new portfolio will focus on driving innovation and investment while supporting the ethical and responsible development of artificial intelligence.
