National Primary Education Week will return from 3–7 August 2026, with primary schools across Australia set to celebrate student learning, teaching excellence and school leadership through a range of community events.
The week will see schools open their doors to families and local communities, hosting student-led forums, exhibitions and performances that highlight learning and achievement in primary classrooms.
Schools are also expected to welcome local leaders and former students back to campus, providing opportunities to reconnect with their school communities and recognise the important role primary education plays in shaping future generations.
The annual celebration concludes with Australian Primary Principals Day on Friday, 7 August, recognising the contribution of primary school leaders across the country.
The day acknowledges the diverse role principals play within their school communities, from leading teaching and learning to supporting student wellbeing, engaging with families and guiding schools through an increasingly complex education landscape.
Organisers are developing a resource toolkit to support schools in planning activities and events during the week, with additional materials to be released ahead of the celebration.
